Sacred Time: Designing a Life That Honors You

For Black women in leadership, time has rarely belonged to us.

We’ve been conditioned to fill every minute — to perform, produce, and prove. We inherited a culture of urgency that glorifies busyness while quietly eroding our joy. Somewhere between excellence and exhaustion, we forgot that our time is not just a resource — it’s sacred.

Reclaiming Time as an Act of Liberation

Time reclamation is not about better calendars or tighter to-do lists. It’s about reimagining what your time means — and who it’s truly serving.

When you start to design your life around what honors you, everything shifts. You stop living in response mode and start living with intention. You begin to see that boundaries aren’t barriers — they’re portals to freedom.

This is where leadership liberation begins: Not in how much you get done, but in how deeply you honor yourself in the doing.

Dismantling Urgency Culture

Urgency culture whispers that everything is important right now. That rest is indulgent. That slowing down means falling behind.

But the truth is, urgency is a thief. It steals presence, peace, and creativity.

Choosing sacred time means choosing alignment over acceleration. It’s a radical decision to move differently in systems that expect you to be endlessly available.

Designing a Life That Honors You

Imagine a week that feels like you. Meetings that align with your energy — not deplete it. Mornings that start with silence instead of scrolling. Days that include joy, stillness, and purpose — not as rewards, but as rituals.

This is sacred time. It’s not selfish. It’s sovereign. And when Black women reclaim time as sacred, we shift the entire culture of leadership.

So here’s your invitation: Take a breath. Look at your calendar. Ask yourself — does this schedule honor me?

If not, it’s time to redesign it.

Because your leadership deserves more than survival. It deserves space — for joy, for healing, for you.

be well, sis.
